DEI has been a hot topic over the past few years. It’s important when a topic of this magnitude takes hold that those of us in leadership positions get as educated as we can on the subject.
I’ve attended more than a dozen solid trainings on this topic over the past few years and in this video, I’m sharing with you some of the things I’ve learned.
It’s important to understand the difference between the three words: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. They don’t mean the same thing, though they are often put together. Just because an organization is diverse does not, inherently, make it inclusive or equitable. To do this right, companies and organizations need to be educated and make a plan, otherwise it could roll out incorrectly and that won’t benefit the people in the organization.
